Ability Tree was founded in 2010 by Joe and Jen Butler, the parents of three children, one with special needs. The Butlers’ life mission is to come alongside other families like their own.
To come alongside families impacted by disability through Recreation, Education, Support, and Training (R.E.S.T.).
To create inclusive and supportive communities where individuals and families affected by disability can enjoy healthy relationships in their neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, and churches.
Joe and his wife Jen are the founders of Ability Tree. The Butlers have three children, their middle child, Micah, has multiple special needs. Joe is an ordained minister and missionary with the Assemblies of God, and holds a B.A. in Bible from the University of Valley Forge and an M.A. in Disability Studies from California Baptist University.
Jen is the co-founder of Ability Tree and the artistic inspiration for everything we do. She is a strategic leader who manages many day-to-day duties. She is currently finishing up a B.A. in Art from Liberty University and looks forward to using her additional skills to expand the art program with Ability Tree.
Amy is the Director of Family and Team Member Relations. She helps new and existing families get plugged in to Ability Tree programming and works with the team members who volunteer with us each week. Amy has a B.S. from the University of New Hampshire in Early Childhood Development.
